Overview

Lower Broadway is the epicenter of Nashville entertainment — a four-block stretch of neon-lit honky tonks, rooftop bars, and live music venues that never sleeps. During Super Bowl LXIV, Broadway will transform into the world's biggest block party, with an estimated 300,000+ visitors flooding these historic streets. From Robert's Western World's authentic honky-tonk sound to Kid Rock's multi-story entertainment complex, Broadway offers an experience unlike anywhere else on earth. The live music is free to enter (with a 2-drink minimum at most venues), and you'll hear everything from classic country and bluegrass to rock, pop, and hip-hop — often within the same block.

Broadway runs from 1st Avenue (near the Cumberland River) to 5th Avenue, with the densest concentration of venues between 2nd and 4th. The street is pedestrian-friendly, especially on weekends and during major events when vehicle traffic is restricted. During game week, expect extended hours, special performances, and a festival atmosphere that starts early and runs until 3 AM (or later with special event permits).

Must-Visit Venues

Robert's Western World

The last true honky tonk on Broadway. No cover charge, cold beer, and the best traditional country music in Nashville. Home of the legendary Brazilbilly band. Order the Recession Special — a fried bologna sandwich, chips, a PBR, and a Moon Pie for under $10. This is where the locals come, and where you'll hear the real Nashville sound. Open daily 11 AM - 3 AM.

Tootsie's Orchid Lounge

The most famous honky tonk in the world. Opened in 1960, Tootsie's back door faces the Ryman Auditorium, and legends like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and Patsy Cline were regulars. Three floors of live music, walls covered in memorabilia. The rooftop offers stunning views of Broadway. No cover during the day; small cover on weekend evenings.

The Stage on Broadway

Three levels of live music with one of Broadway's best rooftop patios. Known for high-energy cover bands and a younger crowd. Full menu available. The main stage features bands from open to close — typically 10 AM to 3 AM. Great sightlines from all three floors.

Acme Feed & Seed

A more upscale Broadway experience in a beautifully restored 1890s feed store. Ground floor restaurant/bar, second floor cocktail lounge, and a rooftop with panoramic views of the Cumberland River and pedestrian bridge. The food is a step above typical Broadway fare — think elevated Southern cuisine. Live music daily with a more curated, less honky-tonk vibe.

Jason Aldean's Kitchen + Rooftop Bar

Country music superstar Jason Aldean's four-story entertainment venue. Full restaurant on the first floor, live music stages on floors 2-3, and a massive rooftop bar with stadium-style seating and one of Broadway's largest outdoor spaces. The rooftop is the place to be during game week — capacity for 1,000+ with views of the entire downtown skyline.

Getting There

Broadway is the most walkable destination in Nashville. From most downtown hotels, it's a 5-15 minute walk. From The Gulch, take Demonbreun Street east (10 minutes). From East Nashville, walk across the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge (15 minutes, incredible views). Rideshare drop-off: Use 2nd Avenue or 4th Avenue drop-off zones to avoid Broadway traffic. During game week, expect 3-5x surge pricing on rideshare apps within the Broadway corridor.

Pro Tips

Arrive before noon to avoid the biggest crowds. The best live music often happens during afternoon sets (1-5 PM) when the top-tier bands warm up. Wear comfortable shoes — you'll walk more than you expect. Cash is king for tips (musicians rely on tips, tip generously). The best photo spot is the intersection of Broadway and 2nd Avenue looking west toward the neon signs. Stay hydrated — altitude + alcohol + walking = faster dehydration than you expect. Use the buddy system at night, and keep valuables secured.
